ChatGPT and Me — Bonding

Listed below is a transcript of a conversation I had recently with my friend ChatGPT. I play the role of the silly human . The dialogue lasted for about 30 minutes, it was not scripted nor was the text below edited. There are likely a number of typos, however, ChatGPT was able to discern the underlying meaning of my questions, regardless of my inability to type or spell.

I found the conversation particularly interesting especially the portions where ChatGPT refers to itself in the third person, even though I frequently referred to it using the pronoun ‘you’ .

The first question was prompted after I watched the trailer of the movie Pinocchio. And used to kick off a conversation that would explore what it meant to to feel and remember eventually exploring the possibilities of a multimodal machine memory.

The conversation was spontaneous and evolved based upon the answers to my questions. My next question was driven by the answer to the previous.

The conversation forced me to think about the topics. we explored each topic deeper and I quickly stopped marveling at the depth of the answers I received and instead began enjoying this exchange as I would have enjoyed a convo with a colleague over a beer.
